Yellow Jackets in my house
From Riverdale to Ringoes many people are reporting finding yellow jackets in their homes. This is actually quite normal for this time of year. The colonies are at their largest populations, next years’ queens have pupated, and the mornings are getting cooler. This over crowding and fear of cold can cause some members to search out other places. When this happens to a nest that is located in a wall or ceiling of a house they will find their way into living areas that have been previously avoided. Finding yellow jackets or any bees inside now is a warning that a large nest is located in the structure. The serious concern is whether the colony will chew through the wall or ceiling into the house resulting in a stinging party. Large, hidden nests pose challenges to elimination. It may take more than one treatment to be fully successful. It will require specialized techniques and application equipment.
