Merlin’s Cockroach Removal

Cockroaches are filthy pests that are transported by people and often make their way into your home or office through visitors. Often times, a person can pick up and transport a cockroach unknowingly. Cockroaches can hide on fruit in a grocery store, on a bus, in packages, purses or luggage, and many other places. There are four kinds of cockroaches that can infest your home or business:

Cockroach Removal

  • German cockroach
  • Brownbanded cockroach
  • American cockroach
  • Oriental cockroach

The German cockroach

  • Most common type of cockroach that’s found in New Jersey homes, apartments, hospitals, and offices
  • Prefer warm, humid areas and typically congregate near a source of water
  • Attracted to plumbing fixtures and often seen living in the cabinets, sinks, drawers, and walls in a bathroom or kitchen

Brownbanded cockroaches

  • Indoor pests, but differ from German cockroaches as they seek areas that have less moisture
  • Find hiding places particularly in high areas of the home
  • They may be found behind pictures, mirrors, books, and beneath furniture
  • Prefer warmer temperatures
  • Hide within appliances such as televisions or behind refrigerators

The American cockroach

  • Not very common in homes, but rather in restaurants, grocery stores, and bakeries where food is always being prepared
  • Usually invades basement or storage rooms of these establishments because of the dark, moist environment in which they can feed upon fermenting food
  • They spread bacteria and germs, which is a serious problem

The Oriental cockroach

  • Also known as a water bug
  • Commonly found in basements, crawl spaces, and dark, damp environments
  • Prefer cooler temperatures and will typically remain on the first floor of the home or building
  • Very large and are much darker in color than other cockroaches
  • Considered to be the dirtiest amongst all cockroaches as they travel through wet, decaying areas such as sewer pipes and drains.
  • They’re spotted near leaky pipes, sinks, drains, and washing machines

At the first sign of a cockroach, we recommend calling a Merlin’s cockroach exterminator. Identifying the type of cockroach infestation is the first step to proper cockroach extermination. Cockroaches can cause serious damage to the structure of the home as they chew through wires and materials. All species of cockroaches carry disease and bacteria for they travel across dirty surfaces, eat rotting food, and then proceed to run across your pots and pans. Our team of exterminators has over 20 years experience and will guide you through the extermination process. Depending on the type of cockroach, we use unique applications in targeted areas that will stop breeding and eliminate the infestation.
